MED COLOURS launches its Transfer Phase with a successful Kick-off Meeting

10/07/2026

The MED COLOURS journey continues!

On Tuesday, 7 July 2026, project partners officially launched the Transfer Phase of the Interreg Euro-MED project during the online Kick-off Meeting, marking the beginning of a new chapter dedicated to transferring the project’s knowledge and methodology to additional Mediterranean cities.

Building on the achievements of the Test Phase, the Transfer Phase will run from 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2027 (with a three-month administrative closure period until March 2028) and will focus on capitalising on the project’s key results by supporting new cities in developing Sustainable Urban Logistics Plans (SULPs)

The new phase brings together 10 project partners and 8 associated partners, reinforcing the MED COLOURS community and its commitment to more sustainable, resilient and collaborative urban logistics across the Mediterranean region.

A major highlight of the Transfer Phase is the involvement of three new receiver cities:

  • Ferrara (Italy)
  • Maribor (Slovenia)
  • Granada (Spain)

These municipalities will be guided throughout the development of their SULPs, capitalising on the methodology and experience developed during the Test Phase. Meanwhile, the cities involved in the project’s testing activities will continue supporting the initiative as Associated Partners, ensuring knowledge transfer, peer learning and long-term cooperation. The Transfer Phase specifically aims to capitalise on the MED COLOURS methodology for continuous cross-monitoring of SULPs and strengthen capacity-building and policy support activities across the Mediterranean.

During the Kick-off Meeting, partners reviewed the objectives, work plan and governance of the new phase, discussed the first activities to be implemented and reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing sustainable urban freight planning.

The Transfer Phase brings together a strong transnational partnership committed to advancing sustainable urban logistics across the Mediterranean. The consortium includes the Institute for Transport and Logistics Foundation (ITL) as Lead Partner, together with the European Network of Logistics Competence Centres (OPEN ENLoCC)CERTH-HITZaragoza Logistics Center FoundationMemEx Srl, the University of MariborLisboa E-Nova – Lisbon’s Energy and Environment Agency, and the three new receiver municipalities: FerraraMaribor and Granada

The partnership is further strengthened by eight Associated Partners, including the Municipality of Cesena, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, ALICE – Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in EuropePOLIS Network, the Municipality of Koper, Local Public Company Lyon Confluence, and the Municipality of Lisbon. These organisations will play a key role in supporting knowledge transfer, stakeholder engagement and the uptake of project results across the MED area.

By extending the MED COLOURS approach to new territories, the project continues contributing to greener, more resilient and people-centred cities, supporting local authorities in planning urban logistics solutions that reduce emissions while improving quality of life.

The Transfer Phase is now underway, and we look forward to sharing the next milestones as the project progresses. Stay tuned!
