Last week, MED COLOURS joined the CIVITAS community in Thessaloniki for three days of exchange on the future of sustainable urban mobility.
During the session “𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚–𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: 𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒕𝒐 𝑼𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒏 𝑳𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒌𝒊”, Lorenzo Cello from ITL Foundation, MED COLOURS coordinator, presented the project’s approach to resilient urban planning.
The contribution showcased some of the results of MED COLOURS, focusing on the importance for cities of integrating resilience into their Sustainable Urban Logistics Plans, strengthening their capacity to anticipate disruptions, maintain essential freight operations, adapt and recover.
Building on the experience of the six cities involved in the project’s Test Phase, the MED COLOURS Guidelines enhance the existing SULP cycle through resilience assessments, climate scenarios, dedicated objectives and indicators, adaptive monitoring and responses to disruptions.
During the Transfer Phase, the Guidelines will support the joint development of three resilient SULPs in Ferrara (Italy), Maribor (Slovenia) and Granada (Spain).
The session also offered a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences with DISCO project, Shift2Zero project, CodeZERO project and UNCHAIN project on how cooperation between cities, research organisations, businesses and local stakeholders can help turn innovation into solutions that cities can implement and transfer.
The discussion brought together Paola Astegiano, Dimos T. Touloumidis, Vasileios Giannoudis, Zisis Maleas, Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, Lorenzo Cello, Raffaele Vergnani and Anne-Charlotte Trapp, who shared different project perspectives and practical experiences in sustainable urban logistics.
